Hello Wimberley Community! My name is Lindsey Deringer and I am mom of three kiddos, who all attend WISD. My background is in education and I am currently a Wimberley business owner who loves Wimberley and being involved in this community. I am running for WISD Trustee, place 2.
I feel so lucky to live here. The beauty of Wimberley never gets old! The time that I have spent volunteering has reminded me what a wonderful place it is for all of us to call home.
- Education Background I graduated form the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2008 with an undergraduate degree in elementary education. I am also certified in English as a Second Language (ESL). I have experience teaching HeadStart and grades kindergarten through 3rd in public and private schools. While staying home with my kids, I also taught English as a second language online.
- Family Focused My husband, Anthony, and I moved here with our family the summer before the May 2015 flood. We lived on the river during the flood and saw the very best in our community during that difficult time. I have spent the last 11 years raising our three kiddos to be strong, independent, and kind humans. Some of my family’s favorite Wimberley traditions are the Butterfly Festival, Concerts in the Park at Blue Hole, and the Wimberley Trail of Lights. You will also spot us swimming most weeks at Blue Hole Wimberley Nights during the summer!
- Active Community Volunteer I have learned much about the infrastructure of our community through my role when I served on the Wimberley Transportation Advisory Council for the City of Wimberley for 3 years. I also interact with our teachers and parents in a number of ways. You may see me as your room mom, coaching basketball, or on campus at Blue Hole Primary and Jacob's Well Elementary. I served as a member of the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) (2020-2021) in our district which works carefully to plan school health programming that impacts WISD student health. I am currently on the WISD Safety Committee. I also am the lead volunteer for Logan's Dugout at The Barnabas Connection in Wimberley.
- Involved Church Member The generosity of our community is evident – I see it as I volunteer on the Missions Committee for my church, Wimberley United Methodist, and through leading our small group class, Adults Serving Christ. I have also seen the importance of giving one's time while serving on the Family Ministries & Nominations committees, volunteering with our youth, or setting up our church wide meals. You might also see me at our church's Market Days booth selling some delicious homemade cookies!
- Small Business Owner My husband and I bought two small business on the Wimberley Square in March 2023. We run Monster Treats and The Budaful Hiker. My favorite thing about owning these businesses is the direct contact with customers. I love meeting new people and visiting with Wimberley locals. We also love serving in the community and giving back when we can. You will probably see me scooping ice cream while my kids are at school!
I love our Wimberley community and my desire is for it to be unified. I plan to run a truly non-partisan race for WISD School Board. I want to run for this school board position because our kids are Wimberley’s future and I seek to serve the constituents of Wimberley ISD; every student, teacher, parent, and voter. Together, we can do so much for our kids and for Wimberley.
I believe that being a trustee isn’t about bringing in my own agenda, it is about communicating with our parents, students, and teachers to understand what they feel is important. We can build on the things that we have in common and listen to each other. We all have a story to tell and I am excited to hear yours.
I hope to have the opportunity to meet each one of you during the next few months. Please reach out with any questions that you might have and allow me to earn your vote. Thank you!
